Looking after your eyes is so important

Our eyes are one of the most important parts of the human body. They allow us to see and experience the world around us. Yet, most of us don’t give the health of our eyes a second thought.

Many eye health issues can exist in the background without showing any signs. Luckily, they can also be easily identified, and prevented through a regular eye exam. That’s why it’s important to visit an optometrist on a regular basis.

Feel like any of these sometimes?

Vision loss, dry eyes and an increased level of eye floaters are just a few of the early signs that your eyes could do with some TLC.

Vision loss is a very common symptom of most eye health issues like short or long sightedness, but could also point to more serious conditions.

Are your eyes red, scratchy and/or tired? Dry eyes are an eye condition that’s increasingly problematic in a screen-addicted age.

Floaters are small moving spots that appear in your field of vision. They’re usually harmless unless there is a sudden increase in them.

Here’s what we can test for

There are many eye health issues that we can test for so if you’re experiencing any symptoms (or even if you’re not), get in early while you can!

Sometimes, seeing wavy lines that should be straight could be a sign of macular degeneration.

Hyperopia or long sightedness is where you can see things further away more clearly than things closer to you.

Myopia or short sightedness is where you can see things that are closer more clearly than things further away.

Astigmatism is where the eyeball isn’t a perfectly round shape which causes vision to be distorted.

A cataract occurs when the normally clear lens inside your eye becomes cloudy, and is like looking through a dirty window.

Here's how we do it.

We use a wide variety of things like pressure tests, eye dilations and OPTOS® scans to get the bigger picture on the health of your eyes.

We test for glaucoma, diabetes and other health issues by blowing a small puff of air onto your eyes to check their pressure.

By instilling pupil dilating drops, the optometrist is able to widen the view of the pupils to more accurately assess the health of your eyes.

OPTOS® provides a panoramic image that allows us to see about 80% of your eyeball - meaning we can check for anything unusual much sooner!
